The government of India has  announced the New

The proposal is to set up  "An effective quality self-regulation or accreditation system will be instituted for all stages of education including pre-school education - private, public, and philanthropic - to ensure compliance with essential quality standards" NEP states.

Historically institutions that were not affiliated to any centrally sanctioned university were not allowed to issue degree certificates, that included the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM). This gave rise to the practice of the IIMs and other independent business schools issuing diploma instead of degrees and get these 'approved' by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as being 'equivalent' to MBAs.
This convoluted system is almost given up with the passing of the IIMs Act in 2018 and also  redefinition of autonomy accorded to the  other PGDM schools. The result is that now IIMs can issue their degree  even though others  in the private sector continue to give their PG diplomas operating however, with greater autonomy than before. The relevance of PGDM and the establishment of their rights continues and so does the work of IAABS.

Will the B-schools continue to remain

  in the online mode?

IIMs  Calcutta set the ball rolling by announcing that the 2022 batch will also go online which was followed by IIM Kozhikode, Rohtak and Amritsar. All the rest of the IIMs  are also to follow.

As of now all the PGDM schools  are conducting classes online and the  trend is likely to continue for another  academic year. Now the question is whether there would be a permanent shift  to online mode  in the for seeable future. Send your opinion to iaabs2021@gmail.com
